Jenny resides in a rural coastal village with her extensive menagerie of rescued animals, which over the years have included horses, goats, pigs, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, and a variety of parrots and conures that give her much pleasure. She has had extensive experience hand-rearing a wide variety of avian species, including conures, parakeets, larger parrots, and even penguins and other orphaned wild birds.

When she is not writing or caring for her feathered and furry charges, Jenny can be found surfing the waves at her local beach, spending time with her horses, or relaxing on a hammock with a conure on her shoulder ;)

Mind Blowing

I can't find the right words to describe the changes that are taking place within me as a result of reading this book. I think anyone who would be interested in reading this book understands that words are often very limiting when attempting to describe spiritual experiences, and the author does an amazing job of articulating what most of us cannot articulate. Every time I pick up this book, even if I only read a paragraph, I find a new gem that shifts my perception even more. If you are searching, this book will help you.

A difficult read

I bought this book after reading the glowing reviews and started reading the book is great excitement. After the beginning story of the girl who was spontaneously healed, I found the book to be getting very heavy. While I do not wish to comment on the experience or knowledge of Richard Moss, I would like to state that the writing style is extremely complicated and makes it very difficult to read beyond a few paragraphs at a time.

The topic of enlightenment is something that can best be described in poetry. Richard's work has a very high intellectual component and use of a lot of technical jargon. I bought this book to read something similar to one of my favorite book by Michael Singer called "The Untethered Soul" which was easy to read and extremely enlightening. Moss seems to be making a lot of effort to complicate a process that can be explained so nicely as done by Eckhart Tolle and Jeff Foster.

However, like I said, this book did not satisfy my expectation. I am sure there are people who love the heavy and super serious style of Richard Moss's writing. I'm just not one of them and would rather spend my time reading lighter works on the topic.

The Reality Affirmations Forgot

I read the Black Butterfly years ago. I have metaphysical leanings but feel that a lot of the New Age/New Thought movement is bogus information and pseudo spirituality. Richard Moss does a great job delineating the states of spirituality that are deeper (and quite often painful) than what the "feel good spin doctors" would ever discuss. This isn't an easy read because it will take you places emotionally that may be triggering. Yet, Richard Moss' work is profound and cutting edge. It will change your life.

His idea was to mount a cylinder on a strong frame, so that it could be turned by hand, or by horse or water power. The cylinder was to be provided with rows of teeth, which passed through narrow openings in a curved plate or grating of metal. The rows of teeth, or circular saws, were to be about three fourths of an inch apart. The cotton was to be put into a box, or hopper, so that it rested against the grating through which the saw teeth protruded. When the cylinder was turned, its sharp teeth would catch the cotton and drag it through the grating, tearing it from the seeds and dropping it on the other side, soft and clean. The seeds, which had been left behind, would fall to the bottom of the hopper and pass out through an opening just large enough to let them pass. They would be uninjured by the process, and ready to be planted for another cotton crop.

Mr. Whitney worked rapidly in spite of many inconveniences. But when all was done except the cylinder, progress stopped for a time. His idea had been to make circular saws and mount them one after the other on the cylinder. To make them, he must have tin or steel plates. As he could not buy or make such plates, he was obliged to contrive some other way of making the teeth on the cylinder.

Find out whether your device can use this capability and how to manage power use, especially for devices that use battery power.

How can I be sure that my device will operate as smoothly as possible for its end users? On the peripheral side, smooth operation requires understanding the specification’s requirements and how the device can meet them. In the PC, proper operation requires a correctly structured information (INF) file that enables Windows to identify the device and software that knows how to communicate with the device as efficiently as possible. This book has information and examples to help with each of these.

What’s new in the Second Edition?

In the months after the publication of the first edition of USB Complete, much happened in the world of USB, including the release of version 2.0 of the USB specification. USB 2.0 supports a bus rate of 480 Megabits per second, forty times faster than USB 1.1. This and other developments in hardware and software prompted this second edition of the book.

Rather than just tacking on a chapter about USB 2.0, I’ve revised the book from start to finish to reflect the changes in 2.0. By popular request, another addition is Visual C++ code to accompany the Visual Basic examples for application communications with USB devices. I’ve also expanded the material about Windows drivers and applications to include Windows 2000, and have added information on new controller chips and development tools. Other additions and updates are sprinkled throughout, many prompted by reader suggestions.

First Look, Windows Centric, but a Good Reference

I pre-ordered this book, and it just arrived about an hour ago, so keep in mind that this is more of a "first impression" than a deep review. Ms. Axelson sets the bar very high with the title theme of her books, i.e. "Complete". Some come closer than others to this laudable goal, but I'm not sure if any of them quite reach that high bar. On a quick look, my biggest issue with this book is that it is Windows-centric. I don't see how you can call it complete without addressing Linux and Mac OSX. If you are only working with the Windows environment, then this is no doubt a very useful reference. If, like me, you only rarely work in the Windows environment, I think this book is still worth having, but keep in mind that you probably won't find anything here to address matters specific to your OS.

A rare combination: easy to read, complete, and accurate

I teach a USB class, so I've had occasion to review every book on the subject. I've chosen Jan's book for my class text because it is, by a wide margin, the best single book on the Universal Serial Bus I've seen. Jan has the unique talent of talking directly to the user in a very friendly, clear, and easy to read style, while losing absolutely nothing in scope or detail. The chapter on how to coerce Visual Basic into making the Windows API calls necessary to support the USB HID class got me over major hurdles while preparing lecture materials. Instead of the usual kitchen sink approach, Jan zeros in on exactly what you need to know to do the job and covers it completely. And her examples actually work!
If you're looking for a book that spans basic USB principles to advanced topics, all clearly explained, you can't go wrong with this book.

Not exactly complete, but good enough

When it comes to developing USB hardware, there aren't many off-the-shelf-how-to books. This is the only one I am aware of. As a result, it wins by default.
Axelson starts by covering the pros and cons of USB, and would be perfect for explaining to a non-technical manager. It covers the USB protocol, and even covers the Cypress USB development kit, which can be used to develop a USB peripheral.
Simply stated, this book won't make you a USB genius, but if you are charged with developing a USB device from scratch, it can compress the time required to ramp up. It can save you hours of frustration.
Unfortunately, reading this book won't make host (PC) programmers into USB geniuses, but it does explain USB reasonably well.
